Whirlpool
State Park has two levels--the upper, or street level has
many overlooks with spectacular views of the swirling waters
of the rapids, the whirlpool and the Niagara River Escarpment.
Visitors picnic and children use the playground at this level.
The lower, or river level is accessible by walking the 300
feet of trails and steps that descend into the gorge. This
level has several nature trails and access for fishing.

Beaver
Island State Park is located at the south end of Grand Island
in the upper Niagara River. The 950 acre park has a half-mile
sandy beach for swimming, an 80 slip transient marina adjacent,
fishing access, bike and nature trails, playgrounds, picnic
areas, athletic fields, an 18-hole golf course and a historic
home which was the summer residence of President Cleveland.
In winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowshoe, sled
or ice fish

on a peninsula extending into Delta Reservoir. The terrain
is wooded and generally flat. The park has a sandy beach,
picnic areas, hiking and nature trails, a boat launch, fishing
for trout, pike, bass, bullhead and perch, and 101 tent, trailer
or RV camping sites. Winter visitors can cross-country ski,
showshoe or ice fish.

Niagara
Reservation State Park, which surrounds mighty Niagara Falls,
is the oldest state park in the United States. The park is
made up of numerous islands, as well as the famous Prospect
Point area. The magnificent Great Lakes Garden greets visitors
entering the park. The visitor center offers information and
exhibits about the park's history, geology and technology.
The open-air Viewmobile provides three-mile guided tours,
stopping at the park's most scenic vistas and at such facilities
as the Schoellkopf Geological Museum, which tells the story
of the creation of the falls with exhibits and a multiscreen
theater presentation. The Observation Tower has elevators
that take visitors 80 feet above street level to view the
falls and 180 feet down to the base of the tower for a close-up
view of the American Falls. While in the park ride the world
famous Maid of the Mist Boat and get wet while at the Cave
of the Winds attraction. Visitors can also hike, bike, fish
and cross-country ski.

Riverbank
State Park is a multi-level landscaped recreational facility
situated on a half-mile-long platform above the Hudson. Riverbank
has spectacular views of the river, New Jersey and the George
Washington Bridge. Park facilities include swimming pools,
(indoor and outdoor) the "Totally Kid Carousel," running track,
football/soccer field, basketball and tennis courts, baseball
field, a playground funded and built by the Saturn Corporation,
a skating rink (ice skating and roller skating) and picnic
area. The park offers numerous courses, extensive equipment,
and cultural and recreational programs for all ages and abilities.

Pit Ponds State Park Preserve is a 260-acre natural area near
the southwest shore of Staten Island. It contains a variety
of unique habitats, such as wetlands, ponds, sand barrens,
spring-fed streams and woodlands. The preserve is managed
to retain its unique ecology and to provide educational and
recreational opportunities for people of all ages. Educational
programs, such as nature walks, pond ecology, birdwatching
and tree and flower identification, are offered, as are many
activities geared to school children. School and group programs
are also welcome by advance registration. In addition, visitors
may picnic or hike on designated trails. Horseback riding
is also permitted on over 5 miles of bridal paths. Please
note that horses are not available to rent.
